About Kate
I'm Kate Yip, a product designer with over ten years of experience across graphic design, UX, and product development. I've worked at companies ranging from small retailers to large real estate platforms, and most of my career has been spent solving the same core problem: making things easier to use for the people who actually have to use them.
My recent work has focused on design systems, which sit at the intersection of design, engineering, and organizational behavior. A system is only useful if people adopt it, and getting there requires as much communication and process thinking as it does design craft. That's the work I find most interesting.
I've also been expanding into accessibility and AI-assisted design, both because they matter and because the tools available now make it possible to do more with less. I've built an accessibility-checker tool using the Claude API that replaces a WCAG checklist with instant visual feedback, because a checklist nobody uses doesn't solve anything.
I'm looking for a product design role, ideally on a team working on design systems or complex product problems, where being thorough and honest about tradeoffs is treated as an asset rather than a slowdown.
